Bruce has over 30 years of training, knowledge and experience completing workplace inspections, assessments, and audits. Bruce’s credentials include a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Biology, an Undergraduate Diploma in Industrial Health, the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation through the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation through the American Board of Industrial Hygienist (ABIH). He has also successfully completed the Registered American Board Accredited Course for ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems Lead Auditor.
Bruce spent 15 years of his career employed with various regulatory agencies, starting out as an Enforcement Office and working his way into a senior management position as the Director of Inspections and Enforcement. In his regulatory roles, Bruce acquired a tremendous understanding and working knowledge of the regulatory process, inspection and investigation techniques, collection and chain of custody procedures for evidence, court proceedings, and the implementation of various Legislative Acts, Regulations and Standards.
As a private consultant, Bruce has been retained by numerous local, national and international clients as an advisor / consultant dealing with regulatory issues, providing legislative interpretations, investigating accidents and incidents, identifying workplace issues, evaluating worker exposure risks and providing working solutions for control of workplace hazards / issues. His past and present client list includes major players in the Oil & Gas Sector (Exxon, Suncor Energy, Husky Energy, Statoil, Sherritt International, Safety Boss, Schlumberger, Paragon, Seadrill Canada, Transocean Offshore Canada Services Limited), the Mining Sector (Teck Resources), the Marine Sector (Maersk, Atlantic Towing, Canadian Coast Guard, Department of Fisheries & Oceans, Oceanex), the Construction Sector (Hebron Project, Muskrat Falls Hydroelectric Project, Terra Nova FPSO, Sea Rose FPSO).
