Asbestos Abatement Awareness

This course is designed to provide a general knowledge of asbestos, the associated health effects, and the restrictions that apply to disturbing or removing asbestos-containing materials (ACM).

Asbestos Abatement Techniques

This course is designed to provide a general knowledge of asbestos, the associated health effects, and the restrictions that apply to disturbing or removing asbestos-containing materials (ACM). This course finishes with a practical exercise and assessment consisting of correct set up and take down of a negative air enclosure and performance a glove-bag operation.

Confined Space Awareness

This seminar is intended to define a confined space and to provide supervisors and employees with a better understanding of the steps involved in working in confined spaces.

Confined Space Level II (Entry) – WorkplaceNL Approved

This program is intended to define a confined space and to provide workers, supervisors and employees with a better understanding of the steps involved in working in confined spaces. Candidates will make use of various equipment involved in entering a confined space and participate in a simulated confiend space entry including performance of a hazard assessment, gas test, and use of fall protection equipment.

Confined Space Level III (Rescue)

Any employer sending their employees to complete work inside a space that by definition fits the description of a confined space by the NL OH&S shall have a rescue plan with trained workers readily available to perform the rescue.  Concepts of the course will be the beginning Stages to help your company understand and apply legislative rules in Confined space plan development/ Identify Confined spaces within your operation and bring your employees to the standard of providing Emergency Response Operations level.

Confined Space Entry & Monitoring – OSSA – (Maritime Environmental Training Institute)

This training program teaches participants the basic knowledge of confined spaces, the associated risks, and understand the methods of controlling these risks before entry into confined spaces.  This is offered through the Maritime Environmental Training Institute and participants will be certified to work at job sites throughout  Alberta, Canada.

Crane Safety Training

Cranes are used to make jobs easier by lifting and moving large, heavy objects. The majority of crane accidents are caused by human error. This training program is designed to address the safety concerns associated with working with and around cranes during land based operations

Electrical Arc Flash Safety

This two-day Electrical Arc Flash Safety Workshop is designed for both qualified electrical workers and electrical safety specialists, who are responsible for electrical systems and electrical safety programs, and needing certification and compliance with the latest 2015 version of the CSA Z462-15 arc flash/electrical safety standard.

Fall Protection (CAPP Compliant/Federal)

This training program has been designed to address the safety concerns associated with working from heights. All persons who work at heights above 2.4 metres (Federal Regulations) or 3.0 metres (Provincial Regulations) and who are exposed to fall hazards should attend this training program.

Fall Protection (Provincial) – WorkPlaceNL Approved

This training program has been designed to address the safety concerns associated with working from heights. All persons who work at heights within the province above 3.0 metres, above a surface or thing that could casue injury, or above an open tank, pit or vat containing a hazardous substance should attend this training program.

Fall Protection Recertification (Provincial) – WorkPlaceNL Approved

This training program has been designed to address the safety concerns associated with working from heights. All persons who work at heights within the province above 3.0 metres, above a surface or thing that could casue injury, or above an open tank, pit or vat containing a hazardous substance should attend this training program.

Fall Protection Equipment Inspection

This training program has been designed give participants an increased level of knowledge in to inspection of fall protection equipment. According to the Canadian Standards Association, two separate inspections are required for your fall protection equipment: (1) a user inspection completed immediately prior to use, and (2) a qualified inspector inspection completed at least annually.

Fall Protection Course – OSSA  – (Maritime Environmental Training Institute)

This training program has been designed give participants an increased level of knowledge in Alberta fall protection codes and standards, fall protection equipment, theory of fall protection; pre-use inspection of fall protection equipment and controlled weight-transfer.  This course is offered through the Maritime Environmental Training Institute and workers will be certified to work at job sites throughout Alberta, Canada.

First Aid Training (Canadian Red Cross)

All workplaces are required to have first aid trained personnel onsite at all times. REL offers Emergency and Standard First Aid courses taught by an instructor with many years of hands-on experience.

Forklift Safety

This training program has been designed to address the safety concerns related to operating a forklift. The purpose of this program is to make operators aware of their responsibilities and to provide instruction that will facilitate the safe operation of the forklift.

Gas Detection

This course is designed to provide the essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for participants to become proficient in the proper use of gas detection instrumentation when conducting gas testing in hazardous areas.

H2S Alive (Enform)

This course is intended for personnel who are required to wear respiratory protective equipment due to the presence of potential airborne contaminants.

Infection Control

This program designed to address the issue of infection control in the health care sector and the proper measures to reduce patient exposure to harmful materials.

Industrial Hoisting, Rigging & Banksman

This course is designed to give participants the knowledge they need for working around cranes, connecting heavy loads, using correct rigging hardware, and using proper hand signals when directing crane operations. This course will also fulfill the requirements for banksman duties.

Ladder and Scaffold Safety

This course prepares participants to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and understand the procedures to control these hazards.

Lockout/Tagout

This course is intended for personnel who work with or around energized equipment.  This course will teach the necessary procedures to control hazardous energy, while explaining the importance of compliance.

Mold Abatement

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to work safely with mold.  Its purpose is also to develop an understanding of the importance of compliance and legislative guidelines, along with the potential health effects of mold exposure.

Occupational Health and Safety Committee/Designate/Representative Training

The curriculum is developed by WorkPLaceNL and includes the following topics:
•    An examination of OH&S legislation, the internal responsibility system, due diligence and workers’ “right to refuse unsafe work”
•    An examination of the roles and responsibilities of OH&S committees and WorkPLaceNL representatives/ WorkPLaceNL designate and how both will operate
•    An introduction to OH&S, the roles of stakeholders
•    An examination of hazard recognition, evaluation and control
•    Information on how to deal with workplace inspections, how to conduct workplace inspections and the role of workplace inspections in returning injured workers to the workplace

Power Line Hazards

The purpose of this program is to increase participants’ awareness of the dangers of working near power lines and how to prevent injury and death due to this work.

Respirator Fit Testing (Qualitative)

All personnel who are required to wear tight fitting respiratory protective equipment due to the presence of potential airborne contaminants are required to be fit tested. This short test ensures the mask being worn creates a seal around the mouth and nose and effectively keeps contaminants from entering the respiratory system.

Respiratory Protection

This course is intended for personnel who are required to wear respiratory protective equipment due to the presence of potential airborne contaminants.

Scissor Lift Safety Awareness

This training program has been designed to address the safety concerns related to operating a self-propelled Lifting device. The purpose of this program is to make operators aware of their responsibilities and to provide instruction that will facilitate the safe operation of a scissor lift.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) by Road

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training which meets Transport Canada’s requirements under the Transportation of DG (TDG) Regulations.  Training is applicable to all persons who handle, offer for transport or transport dangerous goods by Road.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) by Air

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) by Air, which meets Transport Canada’s requirements under the Transportation of DG (TDG) Regulations, Part 12 (Air).  Training is applicable to persons who prepare, handle and offer dangerous goods for transport by air.

TrTransportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) by Marine

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) by Marine, which meets Transport Canada’s requirements under the Transportation of DG (TDG) Regulations, Part 11 (Marine) using the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.  Training is applicable to persons who prepare, handle and offer dangerous goods for transport by marine modes.

Trenching Safety

This program is intended to provide knowledge about how cave-ins occur, how to avoid them and how to prevent workers below-grade.

Traffic Control Person (Flagperson)

This WHSCC approved program will certify participants to conduct traffic control on work-sites within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS)

This course is designed to reduce accidents and injuries from working with or in close proximity to hazardous chemicals (controlled products).
