Industrial Hoisting, Rigging, and Crane Safety

Who Should Attend?

This training program has been designed to address the safety concerns associated with working with and around cranes during land based operations.   This program ensures the participants understand the hazards involved with working around cranes and the knowledge on how to work safely and efficiently around them. Participants will receive crane safety training and participate in inspections of rigging equipment, the development of a lift plan and learn basic crane operating hand signals.

Rigging, Slinging and Banksman

Course Duration:   2 day

Who Should Attend?

This training program has been developed to meet or exceed the requirements of the Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Training and Qualifications Committee guidelines for Rigger Training 4.20.

Participants such as Deck Supervisors, Crane Operators, Deck Operators, Roustabouts, Mechanics, Millwrights or other positions shall gain the knowledge required to conduct lifting and rigging operations in the offshore environment, including the construction, inspection, maintenance and selection of lifting equipment.  This program ensures the participant understands the safety factors associated with movement of a load, including risk assessments, proper lift planning requirements and types of lifts.

  • Prepare pre-lift hazard assessments
  • Communications and Crane / Hoist Signals
  • Sling angle safety factor calculations and center of gravity
  • Crane selection, setup, load radius for Dock, Ship and Mobile Cranes

  • Basic knot tying and rigging hitch types
  • Rigging hitch types and hardware
  • Wire rope construction
  • Safety factors and safe working load limits
